Pardee 8/3/09

Took a quick midday trip with my good friend Eddie "fishrman4life" to Pardee yesterday. Fishing was very good for us with limits served and some. We thought we were going to have a bad day at first because I forgot the downrigger weights and releases at home and ended up having to buy some at the Marina. With the tackle we bought plus the entry free the trip was now an expensive one at over $50.00!!!! Thankfully the fishing was good, even though they were the usual small buggers - 8 to 10 inches with maybe one breaking 11 inches. Kept some of the bleeders and floaters for snacks. Things that worked:
  • Natural RGT behind a 4/0 Blue Tiretrack Seps
  • Pink UV Uncle Larry's Spinner behind a Watermelon Sidekick
  • Homemade Blue and White Hooche behind a 4/0 Silver Prism Seps
Depths 55 to 95 feet, most "catching" came at 75-77 feet. Fished from the River mouth to just past the Rockwall. Very few boats out on the water, probably saw only 4 boats working the river mouth. On the way back in we dropped down some Needlefish for trout inside the narrows and ended up bagging a nice little brown. Farmed two other hits but no love. It was a great day of fishing! Just wish the kokes were bigger! On the water at 12, and off at 3PM.
